Today’s theme: An issue of justice or need globally or locally
‘Seek justice, correct oppression;
bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.’ Isaiah 1:17
‘Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.’ Psalm 82:3-4
‘You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.’ Leviticus 19:34
What issues or needs has God placed on your heart? Is he speaking to you about adoption, poverty, homelessness, abortion, refugees or any other social, ethical or justice issues? Be specific – what is wrong? How would you like to see it change? Is there any part you can play in making a difference to that area of need?
Rachel Rigby is a member of King’s Church Kingston who is currently working with Tearfund in Iraq. In today’s podcast she shares some of the lessons she is learning about praying for situations that seem hopeless.
