A promise and encouragement for King’s Church as we broaden into Molesey

Jeremiah 29 says: “For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you. Plans to give you hope and a future”.

What an awesome promise! And what an encouragement for King’s Church as we broaden into Molesey. 

God is revealing his plan for Molesey in his own perfect, faithful timing through providing the St. Peter’s Community Hub for us to gather in! We are so thankful!

There have however, been hurdles we have had to face; paperwork to read through and sign, meetings to organise and attend, waiting for the building work to start and finish, and most importantly building a strong relationship with St. Peter’s West Molesey. 

In John 16 we read that Jesus tells us that “in this world you will face trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world”. He tells us this so that we would have peace when we face these hurdles. And I believe that to be true of our journey into Molesey so far. 

On Tuesday 8th September a number of us were finally able to gather at St. Peter’s Community Hub to worship together. It was a struggle to be authorised in time by those who work at the Hub for us to set up, and have a band rehearsal beforehand. We were also informed that a counsellor was working at the building on the same evening so we were instructed to keep the volume to a minimum out of respect.

At this point King’s Church were not given a set of keys to the building so we needed permission to collect keys to enter. When we finally got in, the band set up but soon realised that the microphone was not compatible with the amplifier! So we really did end up keeping the volume to a minimum!

In this situation it would have been understandable for us to have felt deflated but God was there as we humbly came with just our voices! It was a powerful evening of worship, giving glory and honour to the one who brought us to this point. The song ‘Heart of Worship’ by Matt Redman came to mind where the first verse reads:

“When the music fades
All is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that's of worth
That will bless your heart”

The very next day after that meeting we were given our own set of keys! Thank you Lord! 

Since then, we have gathered all together as one church for our first Sunday Service. And what a brilliant morning it was! A self-service crèche, kids and youth sessions, a room filled with adults worshipping, and a reminder that Jesus is the Bread of Life! You can listen to John’s talk here.

In all this, we know, and have confident belief that God has a plan, to give us hope in a future in Molesey. So let us simply come, humble in heart, trusting in the one who has overcome the world!
